Welcome to Arbor Midwifery!
From one parent to another, even one baby to another, no two experiences are alike. We know that to provide the very best care for you as an individual is to offer our time and attention to build a strong relationship during your care.
We understand healthy pregnancy and birth to be a normal process of the body, not a condition or a problem that needs to be fixed. We practice with the awareness of your body's ability to grow and birth a child; we avoid unnecessary practices and interventions that would cause greater harm than benefit you and your baby, and we turn to evidence-based practice if interventions are indicated. As your midwives, we actively listen to your needs throughout care, provide education and support on an individualized basis.
We provide complete Midwifery care to both you and baby from pregnancy through 6 weeks postpartum. This includes:
- Full Prenatal and Postpartum Care
- Home birth
- Vaginal Birth After Cesarean VBAC
- Lactation Consultation
- Flexible payment options and payment plans
Who We Serve:
We care for families throughout the San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa and Marin Counties. This includes Berkeley, Oakland, Alameda, Richmond, San Francisco, Daly City, South San Francisco, San Rafael, and Novato.
Our focus is to provide skilled and culturally competent midwifery care to all people through the childbearing year. We are excited to welcome all individuals into our practice including (and not limited to) those identifying as female, male, transgender, gender queer, non-conforming, black, brown, white, hispanic, asian, and latino. We are also working to increase access to midwifery care by accepting a sliding scale fee for those who qualify.
Why families choose Midwifery care
Maybe you want to avoid unnecessary interventions, have a natural birth, or feel supported in your choice give birth where and how you choose. Perhaps you are seeking human connection and warmth from your care provider, the opportunity to make educated decisions as informed parents, and equality in your OB care.
Individuals choose to hire midwives for many reasons, but the common thread is that they desire to be an active participant in their pregnancy, birth and postpartum, to receive unhurried compassionate care, education and support from their care provider.

Less use of epidurals (4% vs 67% national average)
Lower risk of prematurity and low birth weight
Better APGAR scores at birth.
